Realscreen Summit 2009

Following a very successful mission in 2008, South West Screen on behalf of UK Trade & Investment (UKTI) led a UK delegation of over 20 factual and documentary producers, including two companies from the South West, to this year’s summit.

One of the companies who attended was wl:docs. Adam Merrifield, Producer and Managing Director of wl:docs, said: “we were able to successfully promote and develop wl:docs to the non-fiction industry, establish new links with partners and some US broadcasters, together with growing existing links with UK companies and organisations.

"By attending a wide range of seminars and workshops we were able to gain new knowledge and skills which we need to drive forward wl:docs and ensure that our factual slate grows and develops both creatively and financially. Overall the summit was a great success, enabling us to ensure that the focus we have is viable. The contact and knowledge we have acquired will ensure that our slate of documentaries continues to expand.”

South West Screen, Silverdocs, AFI and the UKTI held a very successful networking event at the Henley Park Hotel during the summit. International producers, buyers and network commissioners were able to meet the cream of UK talent whilst also providing UK companies with an opportunity to meet potential new partners and buyers.
