Annecy International Film Festival and Market (Mifa)

7 – 12 June 2010

 

Business, training and promotional facilities for companies involved in animation content creation

 

As the world’s largest event dedicated to animation, Annecy is a fun and friendly way to discover the latest in animation masterpieces, meet major players and young talents, check out new trends, and find ideal business partners, all in one place.

 

Annecy International Animated Film Festival (7 – 12 June) is the industry’s leading competitive film festival, a must-do event for animation companies internationally. As if that wasn’t enough, the Annecy Animated Film Market, Mifa, (9 – 11 June) is also the perfect place for co-producing, buying, selling, and financing animation content across all platforms.

 

Annecy: UK Animation Stand
As an Accredited Trade Organisations (ATO) South West Screen led a UK delegation on behalf of UKTI supported through their Tradeshow Access Programme (TAP) for the second year.

 

This visit was an opportunity for UK animation companies to take advantage of the publicity and profile generated from being part of a wider UK group of companies. Participating companies had access a range of benefits including:

 

  • Up to 2 ''Mifa + Conference + Festival'' accreditations worth 465 € each
  • Exhibition space on the 40m sq UK Animation stand within Mifa - participants used the facilities to conduct meetings, showcase their work and benefit from being part of the stand showcasing UK animation content.
  • A production or project listing in the Mifa digital video library and in Le guide Mifa
  • Access to a pre-market planning workshop on Tuesday 18 May 2010
  • A place at the UK 'meet the buyer' event on Thursday 10 June
  • Association with the ‘official UK delegation’ logo on all promotional material (to include website, direct e.marketing efforts etc.)
  • Extensive marketing & PR pre- and post- Summit
  • A UKTI TAP grant of £1,000 per eligible company which could be refunded against the cost of participating**

Costs of Attending


For Annecy 2010 the cost of participating was £1,950+ VAT per company (£1,000 TAP grant was refunded if companies were eligible).


Eligibility Criteria


Entries were welcome from animation production companies that:

  • Are producing animation programming/content
  • UK headquartered
  • Are ready to do business internationally OR potentially attractive to an investor
  • Able to cover travel and accommodation costs
  • Able to cover the costs of exhibiting (£1,950+VAT)

** Companies were only eligible to apply for a TAP grant if they were taking exhibition space as part of the UK Animation stand and are defined as ‘New Exporter’. Companies just buying delegate passes only were not eligible to apply.
